We can't know what will face the next city council.
Who could have foreseen COVID? Or ICE?
But we can elect residents who can assess the issues quickly, actively listen to all the voices, do the homework, and get to the solutions.
And I trust Jim to do that.

Regardless of my agreement with any particular issue that he articulates, I always appreciate that he communicates his views constructively, respectfully and with deep emotional intelligence. In all of these ways, he is the kind of elected representative that I believe our city needs.
Jim Della-Giacoma is an advocate for affordable housing, from volunteering on the Habitat for Humanity project on Garland Avenue to speaking in support of the Minor Master Plan Amendment.
He says the Council should consider supporting zoning variations that increase density, especially with affordable housing, along New Hampshire Avenue and University Boulevard, and he supports better walking and biking access to the Purple Line.
I've known Jim for many years through our daughters' Girl Scout troop, where he was always the first to step up.
He got camp certified to ensure kids could go camping and reliably packed at least three different ways to brew coffee for the parents. That same preparedness and commitment define how he approaches Takoma Park.
Jim is deeply knowledgeable about our city government and public safety, bringing serious expertise on policing, regularly attending council meetings, and offering thoughtful public testimony.
Jim won’t need a learning curve; he is ready to go on day one. Ward 2 would be lucky to have him.
